I saw this in the Boston Globe today.
I love the picture. How long did the photographer wait to get this one framed? Look just right of Imelda's head.
Democracy is a great thing. You can oppress your countrymen, steal the country blind and years later, after exile, come back and get elected to the House of Representatives. And you son "Bongbong" is elected Senator and your daughter is elected governor.
Maybe because everyone liked her shoes?
Maybe because people are idiots everywhere and will vote for a name that they recognize?
And didn't the Philippines just elect a big name welterweight boxer as a Congressman?
At least the newly elected President (son of former Philippines President Cori Aquino) has run on an anti-corruption platform.
